How it works

Three moving parts. One of them is yours.

Yours takes an afternoon, once. After that your website stays current without anyone at the station having to post.

Pull The Switch!

Step 01

You install one plugin

Choose a plan and create your account. The download button on your account page hands you a copy of the plugin stamped for your subscription.

On your website: Plugins, then Add New, then Upload Plugin. Choose the file and activate it. The plugin introduces your site to us and waits.

We approve the site from our side, usually within a business day. Posts start arriving after that.

Worth knowing

Nothing to fill in

No settings you must complete, no key to paste, no login to hand over.

Your site stays put

Nothing moves, and your host does not change.

It protects itself

If your site’s address changes, the plugin pauses and tells us, so a staging copy never takes delivery meant for the real one.

Step 02

We write, and it appears on your site

Our editors work a week at a time. Each station has a board showing what it is owed under its plan and what has been written, so nothing goes missing.

A draft is written, a person reads it, and only then does it go to your site. Pictures are cropped to suit your layout before they are sent.

You decide what happens when a post lands: straight to the site, or into your Pending list for someone at the station to approve. Change it whenever you like.

We'll take notes and create.

Step 03

You send us what is happening

This is the part that makes the site sound like your station rather than a feed.

Your dashboard has one screen called Send us something. It asks for the kind of thing it is, a headline in a few words, anything you know, and a link if there is one. Add a picture if you have one.

Same day

Anything you send comes back the same day, often within the hour. A death notice that arrives at three is on your site by evening.

Rough notes are fine

Names, dates, times and places are what we need. We write it up in your station’s voice.

The honest limits

What we do not do

No reporter in your town

Anything local comes from what you send us or a source we can read. Send nothing and you still get a working site, leaning on regional and state stories.

No breaking news

Posts arrive on a weekly rhythm, with same-day turnaround on anything you send. A station that needs a live newsroom needs a newsroom.

No readership reports

Your account page lists what we published. Your own analytics tell you who read it, and they are better at that than we would be.

No posting into most plugins

We publish into WordPress’s own Posts. Most third-party and custom plugins, like a listings directory or a section built specially for your site, are outside what we can post to. Talk to us about a custom solution.

Ready when you are

That is the whole loop.

Install once. Send us something when your town gives you something worth writing about. We take care of the rest.
